California Legislature Wants to Define ‘Certified’ to Help Used-Car Buyers.


If you’re in the market for a used car and you think you’re better off going with a certified used vehicle, you might want to think again.

Consumer groups say dealers charge $500 to $3,000 more for certified used cars, many of which are vehicles returned to dealerships after a lease program. But there is no standard definition of what “certified” means, they say.
