‘’In plain English,'’ Ms. Herrschaft said yesterday, ‘’I went through hell with that car.'’ She said the fuel injector and all the wiring had been replaced before she hired a lawyer and went to arbitration. She said the case ended when Chrysler offered to take the car back for a refund. Ms. Herrschaft added that Chrysler had told her to drop off the car at any dealer. She decided to buy a new Plymouth Sundance from Conway and dropped off the LeBaron when she picked up the new car. ‘’All I remember was through all the switching and everything,'’ she said, ‘’was Bob Conway’s saying he wanted nothing to do with the car. He said, ‘A car like that I couldn’t sell to anyone.’ I thought, ‘What a nice guy.’ ‘’ Conway sold the car to the Jaxheimers four months later. Yesterday, Mr. Conway said that he did not remember the car or the Jaxheimers. A class-action lawsuit filed yesterday claims that automaker DaimlerChrysler has been using Ohio as a dumping ground for its lemons. The Akron law firm of Young & McDowall, representing two area Chrysler owners, filed the suit on behalf of Chrysler vehicle owners statewide alleging that Chrysler has engaged in widespread reselling of defective cars in Ohio without the proper disclosure. I purchased an '02 Chrysler Sebring convertible. To my dismay, I recently discovered the glovebox has no lock. There's a locked center console for my CDs and a locking trunk that can be opened only from the inside if the ignition is on. I checked and other automakers sell convertibles with a locking glovebox. This has to be a major oversight by Chrysler engineers. How can they design a $30,000 vehicle without a glovebox lock, especially a convertible? The Chrysler arm of DaimlerChrysler AG said Friday it had settled for $325,000 a lawsuit with California officials over charges Chrysler resold vehicles bought back for chronic defects to unsuspecting customers. The settlement ends a threat from California officials to impose a 45-day ban on Chrysler sales in the state, a move the automaker argued would have cost it $500 million.
