Ford Suit Nets Clovis, Calif., Couple $10 Million.


A Clovis couple who bought a “recycled lemon” from a local car dealership was awarded $10 million Monday by a Fresno County jury intent on punishing Ford Motor Co.

“My clients were simply one of thousands unfortunately and fraudulently sold a lemon,” said William M. Krieg, the lawyer representing Greg and Jo Ann Johnson.

Ford violated California’s Lemon Law and practiced fraud, the jury found.

“We feel that this is a strong message to Ford,” Greg Johnson said. “Hopefully, it will prevent other Mr. and Mrs. Johnsons from being taken advantage of.”
